Number one Wedding Disco in South Cumbria and The Lake District

FAQs

I intend expanding this page so if you have any questions, no matter how minor, please use the form below to contact me.

What type of music do you play?

There is a wide-spread pre-conception of wedding discos playing cheesy party music like Wig Wam Bam, Come on Eileen, The Timewarp, The Birdie Song, etc. With some exceptions, I stay well clear of these tracks!

I have a wide range of disco/pop music from classic oldies to the latest chart hits. Every Wedding is different and my skill is watching which tracks go down well and judging when to keep the music style the same and when to switch it around, speed things up, or slow things down.

Bride and Grooms sometimes give me a list of their favourite tracks and I am always happy to accommodate them providing the music will appeal to their guests too. If you get the list to me at least 2 weeks before your Wedding it allows enough time to ensure I have the requested tracks.

Purely as a taster, tracks which went down well at a recent Wedding included:

Elvis - The wonder of you
Van Morrison - Moondance
John Paul Young - Love is in the air
De Barge - Rhythm of the night
Estelle - American Boy
Beyonce - Single Ladies
Amy Winehouse - You're no good
Duffy - Mercy
Bobby Brown - 2 Can play that game
Cher - Shoop shoop song
Bob Marley - Jammin
Louis Armstrong - All the time
Oasis - Don't look back in anger
Lonestar - Amazed

How much do you charge?

Please use the form below for an accurate quote as my fee varies dependant on location (traveling time and access) and demand (both day of the week and time of year).

I travel to the Lakes from my home in Barrow-in-Furness. I need an hour to set-up and pack-up, so keep in mind that although I'm "only" at your Wedding in the evening, my fee typically represents 10 hours work as I'll begin loading my vehicle at 5pm and don't get home until 3am, often later.

When looking to book a mobile disco for your Wedding, one of the biggest days of your life, do not make your decision based on price. There are DJs on the Web and in Yellow Pages who will quote a low price, which may appear a bargain, but they take multiple bookings for a single date then employ other DJs, often younger and less experienced. You don't know who will turn up on the night (or if they'll turn up!) and I have seen such DJs using old and shabby speakers and just one or two disco lights and a mess of cables on show.

The extra cost of a professional DJ is well worth it.

How do I place a booking?

Complete the contact form below and I'll reply by email to confirm whether your date is still available. As I only accept one booking per night the sooner you make contact the better, as I do get bookings up to 2 years in advance. If available and you wish to book I'll need your postal address to send out a booking form which you need to sign and return with a small deposit, before the booking can be confirmed.

My venue mentioned Public Liability Insurance (PLI)?

An increasing number of Lake District hotels are, quite rightly, asking for entertainer's proof of insurance cover. As a member of the National Association of Disc Jockeys I benefit from a 10 million pound public liability insurance cover and can supply my PLI certificate on request. I also have full portable appliance testing (PAT) certification renewed annually.

We are thinking of having a band too?

No problem, I'm happy to work with your band, in terms of setting equipment up, scheduling the evening, and giving them a good introduction. Please don't think that the band's ipod will suffice as background music during their break, you do need a DJ there too! I will tailor my set to compliment the band's music, so that your guests get a broad range of different music, for example, if they're playing mainly modern/contemporary tracks, I might start my set with a few Motown tracks or conversely if the band are doing all 70s and 80s I'll be sure to play the latest chart floor filler. Without a DJ, the party would end when the band finish, but I can keep people dancing into the night.
